the bots-i like your style

urghh, these kids jam out with their clams out!born to chinese and afro-caribbian parents the bots were invited to do their first show at the tender ages of 9 and 12. since then they have aged a few years but their stage presence and musicianship remains impressive not just for their age, but for anyone.

"i woke up early on my born day"

so today's my new years/born day/earth day.
& slept about a total of 4 hours
i stayed up until about 6 meticulously putting every material possession i had in its rightful place and was awaken a few hours later by "happy birthdaysss!" said over the phone
afterward i figured i start my day out with some music
my choice, nas-illmatic
all the songs seem extra relevant today.
it's like they trigger reflection and a game plan for the near future all at once.
i don't know what it is but i feel like i must make myself move forward more than ever ,
there's no excuse.and not necessarily because im one year older( really 1 day) but because i've come to a point in my life where i have realized what i want, and once you come to that realization the only thing holding you back is yourself.
this year should be a productive one.

(happy born day to nina simone, anais nin, and robert mugabe as well)

epitome of grace

since i was little figure skating has been the only sport that i would actually sit down and watch.i can remember being glued to the television watching guys and gals move across the ice so effortlessly.it was like they were dancing on air, floating on ice, or preforming some type of magic trick.so today when i found out about the first pair of black skaters to compete in the olympic games i was became immediately intrigued. Yannick Bonheur and Vanessa James created history today as they perform during the pairs short programme figure skating event in Vancouver ,and though they did not win their graceful movements helped remove any doubt that black is beautiful.happy black history month!

i wish remix

huminaa..yelawolf does it again!this time with his newest video to a remixed version of a song entitled "i wish", originally featuring raekwon from the one and only wu tang clan!! yes, as in WU TANG CLAN! though rakwon is not in the video, i think the sheer steez of the people doing cameos may have made up for it. ayyye @ the cronies looking too cool

(sooo i often write stuff on my phone because its an available tool thats always there when i have thoughts i want to savor, but i dont usually share them. just *save to drafts*, and review them later on.today i decided to change that.i was feeling a bit rev run esque so i went ahead and shared my captured my words with 26 or so people.im not sure how how they took it, some probaly thought i was crazy or suicidal or just randomn, but hopefully more appreciated it.n-e-ways this is what it said)

thinking in the cafateria puts me at ease
the subtle shouts of the crowd never drown out my contemplative mind
instead the enhance every thought, enforcing what was running through my head all along
its like background music, and every voice is a different instrument
one stands out but im not focused on it
its just background music
and my thoughts are the clear melody to this confusing tune

p.s. i dont think ill be sending any more phone thoughts, maybe i should just start using my twitter
@laikajazlikdat ,ha!

nneka

soo i first heard nneka about a year ago around the same time i was researching other african born artist, and after listening to just one of her songs i was immediately hooked.with her u.s. debut album entitled concrete jungle dropping today and her politically charged lyrics i am hopeful that nneka's will have no problem stimulating the heats and minds of the masses.check her out on tour hitting atlanta's vinyl this february on the 9th and baltimore's sonar a couple days earlier on the 6th.
(hint, hint...early birthday present?)
